Do We Really Need Another Church?

Do we really need another church?

That’s a great question!! When you tell people that you are starting a church, some people get that look in their eye and ask, don’t we have enough already?

The heartbeat behind church planting, and especially planting Velocity Church is to elevate Jesus and help people move one step closer to Him. That’s it…that’s the short answer....it’s all about people meeting Jesus.

Studies have shown that the fastest way to reach people far from God is to plant new churches. The early church did it, the Apostle Paul was a genius at it, and now today we are seeing new churches take off and reach people with the Gospel. Dozens of denominational studies have confirmed that the average new church gains most of its new members (60-80%) from people who are not attending an existing church. On the other hand, churches over 10-15 years of age gain 80-90% of new members by transfer from other churches. This means that the average new church plant will bring 6-8 times more new people into the Body of Christ than an older congregation of the same size.

The area that we have targeted, the Western part of Cincinnati is one of the highest unchurched areas in the greater Cincinnati area. In fact recent studies on the state of Ohio estimates that close to 50% of the population in Ohio is unchurched. Studies have also shown that with most cities in Ohio, if every church had two worship services and both were filled to capacity, there would still be more people outside the church walls than in one of those services! The bottom line is that we don’t have enough churches to meet the spiritual needs of the unchurched people in our state!!

Jesus Christ working through the church is the hope of the world. If we truly believe this, what’s stopping us from planting more churches? These reasons and much more have compelled us to take this step of faith and plant a new church in the Cincinnati area.

There is nothing like the Church when she is working together for the Glory of God. We ask for your prayers and potentially your involvement as we seek to further the Kingdom of God, and see Him do the miraculous in our midst as we follow His leadership!.

Mercy, Peace, and Love by yours in abundance!
